The career can be selected in animation 11 divisions and visual effects 4 divisions. The students can select the division based on their interest and creativity. Then only one can prove the talent and get recognition. Along with this web designing, mobile gaming departments are there where the career opportunities have increased.
Various divisions in animation are as following:
Concept Artist: Creativity, thinking capacity and the ability to give picture form, and to mix up with different regions and persons and to draw based upon it are necessary. If the candidate has interest in painting then it would be an added advantage. This department would give the picture form of the characters according to the story, locations and the sets of the story.
2D Animation: This department does the work of the pictures according to the story board and to fit them in the frames and to observe the movement of them. The candidates should have experience in painting and also should know how to draw the pictures according to the movement of human beings and animals. The candidate should have the sense of timing. One should have knowledge of Flash and Animo software.
3D Modeler: This is the department that gives the final touch to the designs of the concept artist and change to 3D model. One should have knowledge of human being and animal structure, the body parts and the bone structure. Technologically, one should have knowledge on the 3D modeling tools. One should consult with the art director/director and give the finishing. One should have knowledge on the perspective on the different sets, houses, and the things like trees and one can flourish as set/prop model.
Rigger: The main work of this department is to construct the skull with the controllers from the characters that are given by the modular. With the software technological knowledge the movement of the bones, muscle structure and should have knowledge of the body structure. One should be in contact with the modeling and the animation departments and get the necessary changes. If one has knowledge of the ‘Male’ or ‘Python’ scripting then that would be an added advantage.
Texturing Artist: This department would perform the color work of the models that are given by the modular so that it looks natural and make it look real like. One should have knowledge of the mixing of colors on the various living organisms, skin color of things, and to study the outside colors. One should be in contact with art director and finish this work.
C.H.F. (Cloth-Hair-Fur) Artist: After completion of the animation, dressing and the hair style is important and the department that looks after this work is this department. One should have knowledge of the clothes and the hair style in the different situations and one should do simulation. One should work in coordination with the animation director.
Layout Artist: For the story to be done in the picture form some scenes should be broken up according to the situation, for every scene the set/location should be seen, to select the characters, to animate the camera is the work of this department. According to the storyboard there should be composition, staging, camera angles and knowledge of this is compulsory. One should have knowledge of perspective.
