JNU-BA (Foreign language)

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is offering five year integrated BA/MA course in different foreign languages. Those who completed intermediate can join this course through admission test. Only 20-25 students are given admission in each language. There is huge competition for the entrance test. Those who got eligible in entrance test will have the opportunity to do the five year BA, MA course in prestigious JNU.JNU was started in 1969 and is offering Humanities, Social sciences PG courses from beginning. The department of University school of language, literature and cultural studies if offering under graduate courses to PG in local languages along with foreign languages.

 JNU is offering BA and MA courses in modern European languages like French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Parisian and Arabic. It is also giving opportunity to do the research in language, literature, Translation, Interpretation and in cultural studies. Along with that it is offering certificate and diploma courses in Indian languages like Urdu, Hindi including English and in foreign languages like Italian, Mongolian and Portuguese.

Jawaharlal Nehru University is the only university offering BA degree in Korean language. They are planning to start the courses in Indian languages in stages. Primarily the arrangements are going on to start Sanskrit, Bengali, Tamil and Marathi courses.

Entrance examination:

The admission will be given to all JNU courses through entrance examination. The notification will be released in March first week every year. The exam will be held in third week of May. For other details visit www. jnu.ac.in

EFLU- BA English and Mass Communication course

The EFLU (The English and foreign languages university) in Hyderabad introduced BA-English and BA-Mass communication and Journalism courses for students who completed Intermediate. The specialty of this course is it gives the facility to complete several optional courses along with BA main course.

In BA English mainly English Grammar, Prose and Poetry and in BA mass communication, Journalism, all the requirements to excel in media field are taught theoretically and practically.

The course procedure

This course runs for three years and has two semesters for year. The student has to choose four courses in each semester. Like that in three years need to take 24 courses. In first four semesters, History, Theory, Production principles and other main points related to media. In last two semesters, need to complete the internship in any media organization in the selected specialization and to submit the project report. In BA English, need to do the specialization in any foreign language along with English Literature, English language, English language teaching. Need to select any one language in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish and to complete in four semesters.

EFLU Background

Central Institute of English (CIE) was started in Hyderabad in 1958. The main motto of this organization is to give training for English teachers. In the year 1972 the teaching of the organization is expanded and started giving the teaching for foreign languages also.CIE name was changed to Central Institute of English and foreign languages (CIEFL).For past 50 years CIEFL became address for research and training for several foreign languages. In the year 2008 CIEFL name was changed to The English and foreign languages university (EFLU). In the same year, EFLU started BA courses.
